Nat
After being the driving force behind celebrated grunge-punk band Dead Soft for over a decade, frontman Nathaniel Epp has switched gears with his first solo venture under the moniker Nat. Featuring a variety of eclectic sounds from acoustic instruments to synthesizers, debut album Psychopathesque Mixtape Vol. I, written, performed, recorded, and mixed entirely by Epp, explores new musical territory and leans more heavily into Epp’s ambient, folk, and pop sensibilities. Citing influences like Neil Young, Elliott Smith, and Sparklehorse the album holds true to Epp’s penchant for strong melody-driven songwriting while also incorporating shades of atmospheric electronic and industrial noise that echo the influence of artists like Nine Inch Nails and Aphex Twin.
